Located near Ottawa’s downtown core, 299 Carling Avenue (formerly known as 291 Carling Avenue) is a 3.4-acre/1.4-hectare vacant parcel of land that Canada Lands acquired from Public Services and Procurement Canada in 2017 as part of a joint venture with the Algonquins of Ontario. Canada Lands is developing the site by way of a joint venture with the Algonquins of Ontario, built upon the two parties' existing partnership at Wateridge Village.
The management committee overseeing the joint venture has equal representation from both organizations, with Canada Lands acting as project manager.
In the fall of 2020, Canada Lands continued its public engagement for the property online. (Although now closed, an archive of the site can be found here.) Following the process, Canada Lands submitted a municipal by-law amendment to the City of Ottawa, which will be reviewed by its Urban Design Review Panel on Oct. 8, 2021. This is a public process, which you can view here.
