Located near Ottawa’s downtown core, 299 Carling Avenue (formerly known as 291 Carling Avenue) is a parcel of land that Canada Lands acquired from Public Services and Procurement Canada in 2017 as part of a joint venture with the Algonquins of Ontario.
This venture builds upon the two parties’ existing partnership at Wateridge Village/Village des Riverains.
The management committee overseeing 299 Carling Avenue has equal representation from both organizations, with Canada Lands acting as project manager. The site (3.4 acres/1.4 hectares) is currently vacant.
In the fall of 2020, Canada Lands continued its public engagement for the property. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the process was moved online (although now closed, an archive of the site can be found here). Following the conclusion of the process, Canada Lands submitted a municipal by-law amendment to the City of Ottawa, which remains under review.
