William Baker is one of five neighbourhoods surrounding Downsview Park in Toronto. The mature woodlot is at the heart of the neighbourhood, creating a quiet spot for people to enjoy nature in the city.
The Company has worked with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure that the neighbourhood is well-designed and effectively meets the needs of the community. A three-phase engagement process, which included many public events, concluded in 2020.
In February 2021, Canada Lands submitted the William Baker District Plan and development applications to the City of Toronto for review. The applications include a zoning by-law amendment and draft plan of subdivision for the Phase One lands, which include the southern lands near the Keele and Sheppard node. The William Baker District Plan lands will be developed over many years, and any additional phases will be subject to future development applications.
The application materials are available here on the City of Toronto’s website.
Alongside the City, Canada Lands will continue to provide opportunities during the District Plan and application’s review period to stay involved and provide input. Visit the project website to learn more.
