The 1420 Sainte-Catherine Street West property was acquired by Canada Lands Company in January 2026. Carrying a rich history, this four-storey concrete office on the site was originally built in 1914 and is a recognized federal heritage building. The building is also classified as a historic monument by the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications of the Government of Quebec.
Located in the Ville-Marie borough of downtown Montréal, the neighbourhood is a hub for culture, knowledge and entertainment as Sainte-Catherine Street is the most important commercial street in Montréal.
1420 Sainte-Catherine Street West building is currently vacant and could serve its original office and commercial functions but would require investment. The Canada Lands Company Québec Real Estate team will begin to undertake studies and consult relevant stakeholders to evaluate and determine new uses, including consideration for residential conversion, for the building.
